The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Keokuk County in southeastern Iowa...
  Johnson County in east central Iowa...
  Washington County in southeastern Iowa...
  Linn County in east central Iowa...

* Until 745 AM CDT.

* At 643 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from near Atkins to near Williamsburg to near Montezuma,
  moving east at 60 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. Several measured wind gusts
           between 60 to 70 mph in Benton and Iowa Counties.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Washington, West Branch, Sigourney,
  Marion, Coralville, North Liberty, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins,
  Center Point, Kalona, Lisbon, Fairfax, Solon, Tiffin, Ely, Walford,
  and Wellman.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 230 and 253.
 Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 39.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
