The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Keokuk County in southeastern Iowa...
Johnson County in east central Iowa...
Northern Washington County in southeastern Iowa...
Southern Iowa County in east central Iowa...
* Until 930 AM CDT.
* At 833 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Deep River to near Lancaster, moving northeast
at 70 mph.
THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR What Cheer to North English,
Kalona and Iowa City.
HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

Iowa City, Sigourney, Coralville, North Liberty, Williamsburg,
Kalona, Solon, Tiffin, Wellman, University Heights, North English,
Riverside, Oxford, Hedrick, Hills, What Cheer, Delta, Keswick,
South English, and Parnell.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 216 and 253.
Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 9.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind
speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are
especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be
overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the
lowest floor of a building. These storms have the potential to cause
serious injury and significant property damage.
To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service
office in the Quad Cities.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 300 PM CDT for southeastern
and east central Iowa.

* At 830 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Conrad to near Garwin to 6 miles south of Tama,
moving east at 55 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Coralville, North Liberty, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins, Belle
Plaine, Center Point, Lisbon, Fairfax, Solon, Tiffin, Ely, Atkins,

Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 55.

wind damage across central Iowa. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy
structure and stay away from windows! Continuous cloud to ground
lightning is occurring with these storms.

killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
