This test is being conducted in conjunction with the statewide tornado drill. While no action is required, you are strongly encouraged to pause and consider what actions you would take, including where you would go, if it were an actual tornado or applicable severe weather warning.
Hawk Alerts are used to notify campus when there is an immediate threat (happening now) to the health and safety of the campus community. These alerts can be delivered via text message, phone call, email, and desktop notification based on the settings you select. More detailed information may be available at emergency.uiowa.edu when a Hawk Alert is issued.
In the event you receive a Hawk Alert, please take appropriate emergency actions and follow instructions provided by on-scene first responders. For more information about evacuation procedures and how to respond to various types of emergencies, review the Emergency Response Guide.
All students and employees are encouraged to review and update their Hawk Alert settings using MyUI and Employee Self Service. While email is required, text message is the fastest way to receive an alert.
If you need assistance updating your settings, see the FAQs on the emergency notification page, or contact the ITS Help Desk at 319-384-HELP (4357) or its-helpdesk@uiowa.edu.
We are routinely evaluating our capabilities and processes. If you have feedback regarding this Hawk Alert test, please email UI-EM@uiowa.edu.
