UPDATE: Iowa City Police Department continues to investigate April 19 shooting
The Iowa City Police Department is continuing to investigate the Sunday, April 19, 2026, shooting in Downtown Iowa City.
Investigators are following numerous leads and have positively identified numerous persons of interest associated with this incident. As part of the ongoing investigation, police are seeking:
- The identity of Person of Interest #3 in the attached photos.
- Any security camera footage from Downtown Iowa City businesses from 1-2:15 a.m., Sunday, April 19, 2026.
- Cell phone video recordings taken from the Pedestrian Mall during that same time period.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Cade Burma at cburma@iowa-city.org or 319-356-5275.
Five victims have been identified in the shooting. One victim remains in critical condition, two are in stable condition, and two are no longer hospitalized. There is no further information available on the victims at this time.

The Iowa City Police continue to investigate the Sunday, April 19, 2026, shooting in Downtown Iowa City.
Police have identified five victims in the shooting. One victim is in critical condition and the other four victims are in stable condition. There is no further information available on the victims at this time.
As part of the ongoing investigation, investigators are seeking to identify persons of interest associated with this shooting. The Iowa City Police Department is actively investigating this shooting with the full support of UIPD. At this time, no arrests have been made. While the investigation is in its early stages, there are no indications any university students were the intended victims.
